Sakya Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism

Sakya Monastery provides a place to learn Buddha’s teachings from highly qualified Tibetan Lamas in a beautiful traditional setting.

After a wonderfully busy long weekend with many Dharma practitioners here at the Monastery, we are looking forward to welcoming you again this evening for the Green Tara initiation with H.E. Dagyum Kusho Sakya.

Please join us for Losar, the Tibetan New Year, on Monday, February 27th! There will be prayers and words for the New Year from H.E. Avikrita Rinpoche, Ven. Khenpo Jampa, & Ven. Tulku Yeshi.

The Art of Keeping Cool

youtube.com

Start out your week with a new video teaching from H.E. Avikrita Rinpoche:

Now we are entering the 'year of the bird,' but let's make sure it's not a year of the angry bird! We need the Buddhist Art of Keeping Cool to empower clarity of mind and strength of heart, and thereby bring about a truly auspicious Year of the Fire Rooster.

This is a short video from H.E. Avikrita Rinpoche on the Art of Keeping Cool: Now we are entering the 'year of the bird' but let's make sure it's not a year ...

A few notes regarding this Sunday's schedule at the Monastery:
1. Guru Puja Prayer Service
This Sunday's Guru Puja prayer service will be held in Tibetan. The service will start at 10:00 am and H.E. Avikrita Rinpoche will be in attendance. All are welcome!

2. Video Presentation
We will be showing a short (~14 minute) video, 'The Art of Keeping Cool,' from H.E. Avikrita Rinpoche downstairs in the Cultural Hall right after the Guru Puja Prayer Service. Here's a brief description:

"Now we are entering the 'year of the bird' but let's make sure it's not a year of the angry bird! We need the Buddhist Art of Keeping Cool to empower clarity of mind and strength of heart, and thereby bring about a truly auspicious Year of the Fire Rooster."

3. Refuge Ceremony
A reminder that H.E. Avikrita Rinpoche will bestow Refuge Vows this Sunday immediately following the Guru Puja Prayer Service in the Shrine Room. Please contact the Monastery office ASAP if you'd like to attend.

Please note that the Refuge Ceremony and the video presentation will start at the same time.

We invite you to attend "Significance of the Lama/Guru in Tibetan Buddhism," our VEI class this Sunday at 8:30 am.

Remember, the chance to take Refuge with H.E. Avikrita Sakya Rinpoche on Feb. 12 is coming up soon! If you would like to participate and have not yet registered, please email monastery@sakya.org.
