Day 25 of our #instaadvent #adventchallenge and Merry Christmas! Our season of Christmas advent is over, but that doesn't mean our season of advent for Jesus' return is over. We continue to wait in anticipation for Jesus to come back, and while we wait we continue to pursue a relationship with Jesus! That's the great thing about Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection! We can have a relationship with Jesus now, we don't have to wait until he comes back! We challenge each of you to get into the word and deepen your relationship with Jesus! Day 24 of our #instaadvent #adventchallenge, and Merry Christmas Eve! Tonight is the night we've been waiting and preparing for- the arrival of Jesus! Today's verse speaks better than any commentary we could write:
“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest and like warriors dividing the plunder. For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian. The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire. For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!” See this Instagram photo by @cvc_youth

Come join us for our Christmas Eve Service tomorrow at 6pm at the church! It's going to be a great service to welcome in Christmas. Can't wait to see you all!

Day 23 of our #instaadvent #adventchallenge! Did you know there's a part to the story of Jesus' birth that not many Christmas stories talk about? We all know about the wise men bringing Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh, but did you know they were sent on another mission that night? Herod was king at the time, and he heard the promise that God had made to the Israelites in the pst and was disturbed. He called on his wise men to go find Jesus and tell him where the baby was so he could worship Jesus. But that wasn't really his intention- he really wanted to make sure that Jesus did not become king. But God knew Herod's intentions, and protected Jesus by sending the wise men back to Herod by another route, to buy some time. Jesus' birth was not without drama, but God protected Jesus and his family. See this Instagram photo by @cvc_youth

Day 22 of our #instaadvent #adventchallenge references the verses we talked about on Sunday, but also the actual birth of Jesus! Remember that Mary pondered these things and kept them in her heart, just like we remember things from past Christmases vividly because this time of year is so special. It's special because Jesus fulfilled the promise God had made so many years before! This is what we must remember and celebrate during this Christmas season. See this Instagram photo by @cvc_youth

Day 21 of our #instaadvent #adventchallenge! "“Everyone who heard about it reflected on these events and asked, “What will this child turn out to be?” For the hand of the Lord was surely upon him in a special way.” Zechariah trusted God and listened to Him when told to name his son John, and God allowed him to speak again! Not only did this fulfill the word that God had given about John and Zechariah, it also brought attention and glory to God, and they reflected on what was to come because of what had happened!
